1) There is a lot of dead air time. The Common Man has a tendency to stop talking while he thinks or organizes his thoughts. Sometimes elevator music or a "studio timeout" is played, but in reality The Common Man is not quick enough to keep the attention of his audience.

2) The Common Man stutters. He routinely stutters at the beginning of a sentence, then completely changes his thought process after stuttering. It is hard to listen to; a radio talk show host should be articulate, concise, and compelling. The Common Man could never be described as articulate or concise.

3) His constant use of the punch line drum sound, the "bu-dum-ching," and the "Big Voice Guy," makes the show very stale and unfunny. His use of these sound effects draws attention to the fact that The Common Man is unoriginal and outdated.
