Amy KyteThe registry was intended for the repeat and dangerous offenders. We need to start using the registry in a way that works and not in a way that takes the liberties away from low risk offender and their family. I believe their children will suffer more than the kid that saw a flasher or a kid having consensual sex. Too much of my tax dollars could be going to something more useful.

AnonymousI would be considered a no risk
Gloriann O'BrienI am upset about the lack of acknowledgement that the new federal laws are ex post facto. This is more than regulatory. I speak that with certainty since our whole family has been punished by the retro active nature of these "new" laws.
martha aranguamy husbands was in 1976 and since then he has not reoffended, but his ex wife tried to use his reg. status in an attempt to have him put away for life. How is this fair? Insidently, nothing at happened to her, or the step son she had assisting her.

Tim P.It is time to stop tricking the public into thinking these types of laws are protecting anyone. With over 90% of sexual assaults commited by a person well known and trusted by the victims, including childern these laws are doing nothing to protect the public or childern.
Gary D HertzExcellent site with excellent information and ideas to move forward from a failed and frustrating (non)-system. I applaud your great efforts and look forward to working with you in any way possible. Me and my family have been through so much due to this issue. It is very hard to continue with this course much longer. I don't know where a charge of one count of child pornography would classify me in your suggested risk level system. But I finished my 5 years of probation 17 months ago, with constant SO therapy and semi annual polygraphs. I own a home but would like to move. Just can't find a city in South Florida that would accept me. I'm still a villian to everyone. It's a life long sentence, and it's killing me every day.
AnonymousI am in COMPLETE support of this!
belinda bunnellPlease please change The Registry laws!!!! They are too restrictive on entire families who want nothing more than to get on with their lives--go to work, come home and be left alone. Thank You.
Linda WagnerThese laws are unfair to the offenders and society.

Jeffrey ReaneyI agree with every that is included with this petition. I am a convicted sex ofender. I have completed my sentence, but can't find a job, of a place to live and must have SEX OFFENDER on my license. How do you expect me to become a productive member of society? The answer: You can't.

Kathy KorsonI will help how ever I can to get this passed. My husband would be classified as a No-Risk. The alleged offense happened back in 1992 and it was wife at that time who was the accuser. Now he has to register 4 times a year, give up his email address, have a number put on his drivers license etc. He is a good man. Hasnt been in trouble for over 11 years, soon to be 12, no tickets or any infractions. He cant obtain the state issued contracting license because he is having difficulty having his civil rights restored. We have been in front of Gov. Bush twice. Denied once and the second was "taken under advisory" and then denied. I called and asked why and was told the Gov. doesnt have to give a reason or explanation. That is now going to cost us over $4,000.00 to hire an attorney to try and take care of it. My husband is afraid to do anything. Afraid if he looks wrong or doesnt work hard enough he will be in trouble. I fear that my husband is going to have a breakdown any day. When this is constantly hanging over his head its hard for him to move on. Please help.
Harold KoechleinThis is a necessary step to protect those who were falsely accused or harmless and enable limited resources to focus on the offendors of highest risk.

Greggory N. Nordyke, RN BSNI feel very strongly in support of this effort. It is unethical and immoral to require someone who is deemed No Risk to register and be banned from going to areas of interest simply because, as you should know happens extremely often a 20 year old (male or female both) has a relationship with a 17 year old and breaks up with them and makes a parent mad. They get charged with a sex offense that was originally condoned by both parties parents and was not only not illegal 50 years ago but was the norm. If it was not unusual then, when did a 17 year old, or in some states 18 year old suddenly become too stupid to have a relationship with someone 1 or 2 years older. If the person was able to complete their sentence and ALL requirements why are they then punished FOREVER after by registration. Do we even need to bring up the proven acts of police harrasement of RSO's every year around Halloween and other days that children are active? Please support this petitions requests and allow no further punishment to people who make one mistake. Even murderers are allowed to go on with their lives if they complete their entire sentence.

AnonymousThe law is broke. There needs to be a federal time limit that a person is to be on the list. Also there should not be any further laws added to the list. What happened to the constitution?
Renee Wright
Keith EngvigI have no fear for life or limb, but do feel that not only do I suffer my punishment but my family is victimized by the laws.
Mark A. Korson
Beverly LanfearI am a 100% believer in the "original" intent of our constitution. As a former victim, I am a survivor! Never in a million years did I dream I would cross to the other side of the fence. Yes false allegations on my son, who was indentified from a photo line up. Long story short, I thank God for the people that reached out to me and begged us NOT to let our son take a plea (petrified of going to trial?) The stories are horrendous on the innocent being convicted, but we had no choice either way he was nailed to the wall. I thank God above all else...three weeks before my son's trial...I thank God for giving two girls the courage in helping apprehend the real perpetrator. My son was totally exonerated.' Would I feel safer knowing the person who hurt me years ago was on a registry? NO...absolutely not. I never feared other men, because I know not all men are this way...I have four wonderful brothers to prove this. Yes...there is evil...but..good people make bad mistakes. Yes we can and we must forgive, number one for our own sanity, number two...We must learn to forgive if we are to be forgiven. Jesus forgave his enemies. He died on the cross so that ALL our sins would be forgiven. Only HE can judge who is evil, it is NOT up to us.
Phyllis ZwarichMy son was falsely convicted in West Texas because a young girl had a "crush" on her teacher. He is NOT a sexual predator. Our society is losing out because this very dedicated teacher is now gone from our educatiojn system.
