Susan FreedlundI would like to thank Rep. Mark Foley for hopefully waking up the American public and letting them see these laws need review and reconstruction.
Michael YoungGoing to a Teir system which would remove all but the most dangerous persons off the registry is the most important thing that we can do at this point. It is impossible to determine who is and who isn't a threat to children when you have a person on the registry charged with spanking a child one time next to a person who has raped several women and children.

Richard C. PirrelloIt is time rational thinking prevailed, versus fear mongering by persons and groups with "agenda's"
ElaineWhen are we going to let people who have served their time for their offense go on with their lives and live in peace. We do not treat DUI, MURDERERS.DRUG DEALERS who I think cause more harm to our children like this. America wake up I think we need to fear our politicians alot more then you think.

Michael PriceThe sex offender registration requirement for a specific "class" of citizen is highly prejudicial, degrading, hazardous to personal and family safety, and broad brushes all 'offenses" to one sceem. A teir system would filter out over 90% of those presently on the registries as being unwarrented. The sex offender registries need to be removed and reworked into a practical, useful list. The current listings only paint a pretty picture that makes the public feel good but has no benifit what-so-ever.

Calvin SheltonOver twenty years ago I had an affair with my 15 year old sister in law, consentual. Now I am listed as a "Violent Sex Offender" with lifetime registration and reporting. After over 20 years of lawabiding behavior, not even a parking ticket, I am now labeled as the worse of the worse. Wasting taxpayer money watching me while individual like Mr. Foley of Floridia is flaunting the very laws he is supporting and passing. Who is worse? Me or Him? Please repeal this law so that people who have made a mistake can again live normal lives as productive citizens. Thank You

Beverly ElamWhile I do not agree with everything on this petition, I do believe the entire registry is in need of a complete overhaul. Valuable resources are being wasted by not following the original intent of the registry.

AnothenOne thing that is not mentioned is the enormous cost of enforcing these laws and yet do very little to protect children. There needs to be a blanket policy of definitions and research done to settle the controversial and political issue about the science of Child Sexual Abuse. There are too many myths and very little actual science. The hysteria is caused by misinformation and manipulated statistics. If more people were informed of the cause of Child Sexual Abuse, there would be less hysteria and then we would begin to have a reduction in Child Sexual Abuse.
Thomas H. MadisonRepeal this constitutionally corrupt law!

Brenda BiggersMy husband has been employed at the same company for 22 years. The new laws are making it harder for him to stay employed. And there isn''t an abundance of jobs waiting for a 48 yr old man.
Laurie and Mike PetersonPlease be aware that in Massachusetts... with a 3 tier classification system, teenage consensual sex encounters are almost ALWAYS classified as a moderate risk... which would be equivalent to your medium risk above. These offenders, with no other crimes, are at NO risk, and should be specified specifically under your NO RISK portion above. Also, leave out the Romeo and Juliet scenario specifically, since many teenagers are having 'casual' sex, not romantic relationship sex and would be excluded from your provisions above on a technicality since they did not engage in 'romeo and juliet' love. Silly I know, but we just battled this out personally under the same pretext in MA recently. And these teenagers consenting with other teenagers are considered 'extra' familial and as such are always looked at as representing a higher risk under the current classification guidelines. Email me if you have questions... this is something I am committed to pursuing.

Margaret Rae JenkinsIt is extremely important that the sex offender laws in this country be re-evaluated and brought into compliance with the Constitution of the United States of America!
brian arlitzits time for some human rights back and realize that not all people are bad. people can be rehabilitated and become good citizens.
Jodie M. TamezWhy should my family have to be punished, due to the registry? My husband is an RSO and his case is on appeal. It is not fair to all. It is not beneficial. It is an invasion of my families privacy and could be detrimental to all. It is not reducing crime rates. Something needs to be done or changed. How is this fair to me and my daughter who is now only 2 years old? I want changes.

Betty PriceI guess it is time that America rethinks using underage pages. How many other Congressmen have done this and just not been caught? Mark Foley, I am certain, has nothing to worry about. He won't be charged, taken to court or anytime in prison. He won't be put on the Registry as the Sexual Predator he is. He won't have to move either. Just a smack on the hand

AnonymousIt is time to end a witch hunt and take into concideration other inocent lives. Those who live with the fact that they too are in danger of harme to their homes anf their lives. The families, wives, children, parents of the RSO's
AnonymousLet the madness stop, let us get on with our lives .as free people of the country I want to stay in rather than want to leave as it is turning communist like every day. Even my passport is red flagged.... Hitler died at our hands, lets not bring him back to hurt the masses. Bush is the devil reincarnate. feel good policies hurt too many innocent people. why is it the supreme court hasnt been asked, " while the rso laws in and of themselves might not be looked at as ex post facto laws, an annoyance at worst, the laws that are made as a result of these laws to register ,and use of database, punish non complient people are, ie failure to register is a FELONY conviction, after you have jumped through all the hoops?" now is that not ex post facto ? or am i ignorant.
Anthony Ritter Jr.There has to be changes!! I am an ex offender and the ways these laws keep changing scares me!! I was on Deferred Adjudication from 1994-2000 and completed succesfully! But keep paying the price not fare!!!! We need to know that we can intergrate into society and provide for our famillys!! Please help us! Thank You

Mr. R. S.Stop the insanity of the registries and truly help children by providing funding for food and healthcare to the poor children of this nation. Those numbers are growing daily while sex crimes are dropping.
