It's time to stand up and be counted.

Is wearing a seat belt a good idea?

Yes,

Is the law requiring your to wear a seat belt a good idea?

No.

It started harmless enough. The want to save lives.

But you know what they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Now it's business...

In 2005 my county's Sheriff wrote 125,000 tickets.

That's not including 2 city's also writing tickets and the FHP.

It is guessamated that tickets wrote in 2005 between all parties writing tickets, was over 400,000 tickets.

Quick math.

If each ticket was $130.00 each,

400,000 x $130.00 = 50,000,000 or Fifty Million dollars.

Of which it is also guessamated 35 to 40 percent was seat belt tickets.

Why so many guessament?

Problem is, at the time I was looking in to this, some city and state agency's did not, would not release full detailed information.

I mean is it really any surprise maybe why some don't want these number known?

The guessaments from numbers release by Saint Lucie County, State FHP website, local police officers.

Why is seat belt tickets this a problem?

City's an county's and the state are now depending on this cash to operate and not the money we vote on to fund them, by the representatives we have elected.

If they are breaking the law what's the trouble?

The Trouble is multi fold.

Why seat belt tickets?

Seat belt tickets are easy cash for government.

Seat belt tickets are monetarily only, no points. No points means no insurance increases.

No points and the fact most people don't even try to fight seatbelt tickets, they just pay them.

What is this money used for?

One thing is to hire more officers to write more tickets...

It's a self propagating system.

Read about this town in Ohio were I use to live near.

Bottom line on New rome

The 60-resident village had as many as 14 policemen (all part-time), with the Village Council wanting more.

Are all police bad?

No.

Most are good.

They are doing what they are told to do.

Do seat belts save lives?

Yes. And please understand, I am not saying you or anyone should not wear seat belts.

But I am saying you should have the choice.

And the right not to feed a system that is not necessary looking out for your interest.
