Repeal the unfair law that NTSB implemented on December 13, 2011. This law unfairly calls for the first-ever nationwide ban on driver use of portable electronic devices (PEDs) while operating a motor vehicle. We, as Americans Have the Right to make our own decisions about where we drive, what music we're listening to, whether we wear our seat belts, if we want to eat while we're driving or talking on our cell phone. The government is sticking their noses into our business and they do not have that right. If you believe that this is an unfair law that needs to be repealed then please sign this petition. The truck and bus drivers are PROFESSIONAL drivers. They do this for a living. Most of the time the cause of an accident between a truck driver and a non-commercial vehicle is the car/van/pick up truck. The road drivers are so safe it's unreal. The drivers around them are the problem. They cut the truck drivers off then stop to turn right in front of them They do not give the proper respect to these large vehicles on the road with them. And then blame the truck drivers. And the police officers will give the ticket to the truck driver even though it was the other driver's fault. These drivers are doing this unappreciated job to support their families, they do NOT want to have an accident. Because if they do, not only will they be ticketed (unfairly, because the majority of the time it's the other motorists fault) but they could kill someone. They are overly vigilant. And this law is extremely unfair. These drivers count on their cell phones to talk to their dispatchers while they are doing their JOBS. They cannot just pull over somewhere to call in. Where are they gonna pull over? It's not like they can just zip into a parking lot for a second. Or pull over to the side of the road. They will get a ticket if they do that. Most businesses have sign up that say No Trucks. Why does everyone hate the truck driver so much? If not for them you would not have food to buy at the grocery store or your favorite restaurant. You would not be able to buy the latest fashions at your favorite clothing store. They do so much for this country and yet they are vilified at every turn. They are not even allowed to go into the businesses they are delivering to to use the restroom. I can see the no texting ban. This makes sense, but to ban all cell phone use? What happened to our Free country? What happened to us citizen's making our own decisions?
