Name: Adele on Apr 9, 2010Comments: The Highlands Act is unconstitutional. The Highlands Act has established sweeping and controversial requirements and controls regarding the ownership and use of lands that have negatively impacted property value and equity. The Act has also assigned control of land planning and use to a 15 member Council appointed by and responsible solely to the Governor of New Jersey. By this action the traditional municipal and personal owner control of land use has been removed. The land use constraints and regulations and area boundaries appear to NOT be based upon science or site specific conditions. The principles and rights of private citizen ownership of property, upon which this Country was founded, have been lost as a result of this legislation. Governor Christie should repeal this Act immediately. The Governor should investigate and bring justice to our hard working farmers in New Jersey. We cannot continue to give the EPA all of our rights under the disguise for the good of the people. Who cares? We have your number on that line. Who is going to help the farmers?...Who will be next? We should vote you all out of office come November. I guess we have the same elitist progressive social justice legislatures in New Jersey as in Washington DC. Please repeal this Act or pay them what the true value their farms were worth in 2004...when they could have sold their property for a lot more then nothing!!!! You think you can take the rights away from 1400 square miles of farmers and other businesses with the swipe of a pen. This is not a fairy tale...these people are real and have come from generations of hard working farmers. How would all you legislatures like it if someone took your Government. Pension or your 401k away from you with a swipe of a pen and said this was for the good of the people. Sounds good to me!!!Flag

I have a main tributary dissecting my property that runs into a reservoir that supplies hundreds of thousands of people with water. We have to keep the runoff water clean that go into the tributary that supplies the resevoir and the water companies make big money.Flag

Name: Matthew Smetana on May 20, 2011Comments: The Highlands Council is attempting to rob me of the TDR's that they established my land was elligible for because of a deed restriction imposed by the DEP as a result of the disturbance and impervious limitations placed on my property by the Highlands Act. They claim that this deed restriction has removed any post highlands act potential to develop my property, and are now retracting the letter they gave me establishing my elligibilty for TDR's. Please contact me to discuss. I have plenty of evidence against them.Flag
