The recent killing of Travon Martin in the State of Florida must call the attention of the People of the United States of America to the existence of laws in fourteen states that allow citizens to use deadly force without being held accountable for their actions. We consider such laws to be unlawful, unclear and ultimately unconstitutional. As such we request that you instruct the Attorney General of the United States of America to immediately begin steps to bring this issue before the Supreme Court in order to determine the Constitutionality of these laws. We believe that the rights of the People to Life and security are of the utmost importance. If all are innocent until being proven guilty, then those killed in "self defense" are also assumed to have been innocent. These kinds of killings, particularly those using firearms, should be subjected to the highest level of scrutiny. No one should be able to kill indiscriminately and walk free. We urge you to take immediate steps to see these steps declared unconstitutional.
