Whereas, research supports the increased academic achievement of students in smaller, neighborhood-based buildings;

Whereas, community-based schools facilitate greater parental involvement and teacher-parent communication;

Whereas, these two campuses are significant, essential resources to the health of our neighborhoods;

Whereas, closing of these two schools and redistricting these students will lead to overcrowding in the near future in the other elementary schools in the district unless either money is spent to build additions to those schools or space in those schools is sacrificed.

Whereas, closing our community schools would be detrimental to our communities in the form of higher taxes, lower property values, and decreased population.   

We, the homeowners, parents, business owners, and residents of the Wilson School District DO NOT want Lincoln Park Elementary School or West Wyomissing Elementary School closed because IT IS POSSIBLE to renovate and successfully update these older school buildings.

By signing this petition, we, the undersigned, want the Wilson School Board members and Wilson School District Administration to know that we OPPOSE any plans to close Lincoln Park and West Wyomissing Elementary Schools. 

We, the undersigned, petition the School Board of Wilson School District to vote to KEEP OPEN AND RENOVATE LINCOLN PARK AND WEST WYOMISSING ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
