The wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum have bad and misguiding names.
Uv radiation, for example, actually means not violet or outside of violet.

Radio waves means radiation waves and microwaves means small waves.
Infrared translates to inside red, or just red, which is supposed to mean that it has a lower frequency than visible red light.
X-rays, also called Roentgen, are named after the man that discovered them, while Gamma radiation is named after gamma, the third letter of the greek alphabet, because it was the third type of wavelength that was discovered.

The whole thing is very messy and misguiding. I think we should rename the wavelengths.
