Now is the time to reclaim our name! Let's petition the Libertarian National Committee to rename the party as the Liberal Party.

With the current upheaval of the traditional Left/Right political lines in the United States, Libertarians (classically liberal or anarcho-capitalist) can once again be known as Liberal.

Today, the Democratic Party is filled with Neocons, self-described Progressives, and self-described Socialists. Meanwhile, the Republican Party has purged liberty minded individuals from their roster and are slowly drifting toward fascism.

We can seize this opportunity to be identified as liberal and not have to qualify our ideology as classically liberal or classical liberalism. Instead, those on the left will have to identify themselves as social liberals.
