Comments: If the school systems are having a problem with children learning and teaching the same children who are below academic grade levels, how is it that the school system can assume that they are better to tutor those children later on in the day? Outside providers bring in new materials and new techniques for the individual pupil. Teachers who are not able to teach 20 -35 children at one time because of a few distractions, simply cannot give their best to those same students in those same classrooms at the end of their day in the same building. This is a job for people who are willing to go the extra mile with children who need help learning from people who are not intimidated by that child. In situations of one- on-one tutoring, the child is, generally, not intimidated by the instructor and learns that he has a friend who desires success from him. People of means have afforded tutors for decades; please do not take free tutoring for children who have the need and the desire to learn. One thing you can think about is this; have the school districts send applications to the parents with the list of providers and let the parent choose us through published information whithin the tutoring selection manual. This way only children who desire tutoring will be served and as peers begin to see success; others will come along and want to learn.
