Comments: We live on Hicks Street, about one block from the salt pile. Not only does the salt and its dust coat everything on windy days (which are often, being so close to the water), but it turns into a mess on rainy days. This wet salt burns my dog's paws when he walks through it. I'd love to see the salt pile go!

Comments: Please remove this salt pile. We didn't sign up for this nor was the community asked about it. I'm sure your company would have issues if I placed a massive salt pile in your backyard with your kids playing outside.

Comments: It has gone on too long. And this neighborhood has increasingly become a home to additional people. The pile needs to be relocated. Terry

Comments: This pile is a menace. I find it hard to believe there isn't a fully commercial zone that this health hazard could be moved to.

Comments: PLEASE remove this salt pile. For 3 years I have been calling 311, local representatives, American Stevedoring and have had no positive result. My dog's paws have been damaged by this salt, and on windy days the salt has been an irritant to my asthma. I am now pregnant, and we are seriously considering whether to stay in our apartment if this salt pile is not removed as we know this is a hazard to our baby. I love this neighborhood and have owned an apartment here for years. I am so sad that the city's complete disregard for our health is providing us with the difficult decision. The salt pile has been left uncovered yet again for the past 3 weeks, and I can taste it every time I leave my house. It is totally unhealthy and unacceptable.

Comments: As a home owner with a direct view of the salt pile from my windows, I am annoyed and outraged. We are plagued by the smell and irritation of the salt as well as dealing with the loss of our view of the river. PLEASE REMOVE IT NOW.

Comments: The port should be a good neighbor. There's no reason that their operations should negatively impact the residential neighborhoods that they abut. Whether it's salt or carcinogenic pollution from ships or trucks, we need to make changes to ensure that our neighborhoods' residents aren't carrying the negative health burden of the activities that being carried out on our waterfront - which are publicly owned - by private entities.

Comments: PLEASE remove the salt pile!! Aside from being a PROFOUND blight on the neighborhood and shore line, it blows everywhere - covering window sills and clogging window screens. I'd prefer to save some energy and keep my windows open this summer. This is a serious quality of life issue for myself AND my neighbors.

Comments: not only is the salt an irritant it is also a corrosive to autos, cement sidewalks, roads and buildings it is destroying our neighborhood in so many unseen ways and the effects are of a long lasting and permanent nature it is also ruining our neighborhood progress which we and the city are trying to rebuild not to have destroyed by salt storage and its lasting effects to the ecosystems.

Comments: As an architect, I cannot understand how this use did not have to go through a community board review with a full environmental evaluation made. As a nearby resident with respitory issues that have plagued for the past two years (and never before) I am suspicious that this irritant is not somehow related.
