We the undersigned hereby ask for the resignation of John Hagarty, Police Chief of Kawartha Lakes Police Services for abuse of authority, bullying and discrimination.
For two Remembrance Days in a row, the Police Chief has bullied the Sir Sam Hughes Branch 67 of the Royal Canadian Legion into disallowing the participation of the Kawartha Charity Riders in the Remembrance Day Parade in Kawartha Lakes by telling the Legion “It’s them or me”.
His flagrant abuse of his authority and position to further his personal agenda and dislike of motorcyclists is reprehensible and requires he be removed from his position or be forced to publicly apologize to all parties.

Seeing one thousand signatures on this petition makes me realize how many people understand the hurt caused by this abuse of power. I never wanted my community to face this kind of treatment but knowing you are behind me feels like a turning point.

I would have thought that a Chief would know not to paint with a wide brush calling all M/C riders as outlaw bikers. this group is charity based and some are veterans trying to show respect on Remembrance Day. The Chief does not have his eye on the game.
The police have no right to dictate who can and cannot march in ANY Remembrance Day parade. This is the lowest form of discrimination. Many bikers are also vets or have family who have or currently service in the military.
As a military and police supporter I would think that this Chief of police hasen't done his homework, A large number of Motorcycle groups work for different great causes, including our military and have done a lot for our vets. Brian Goodfellow QDJM RED Ribbon Forces
Mr. Hagarty exemplifies the very abuses our veterans, past and present, fought against. This tin pot tyrant should be removed from his post forthwith! That the Legion wouldn't stand up to him saddens me greatly.
As an Officer with over 30 years service I am amazed that you are a Chief - I am ashamed that you would dishonor our VETS in such a way and suggest that you take a job as a City Trash collector - no just resign I don't want to offend any City workers by having you in their presence.

Too often our rights & freedoms are being trampled by those who have forgotten who they serve. I am a rider & a 38 year member of the Legion. Both national & municipal police forces are supposed to enforce our laws, not make or re-write them.
