The wireless internet in Frederiksen Court has been very lacking in quality this year. The source of the problem, is the lack of wireless routers provided by the Department of Residence meaning there are more devices on the routers than they are able to support. This causes very slow connections and causes a lot of stress to students. The other problem, is that the Department of Residence doesn't allow residents to use their own wireless routers because they claim it interferes with their signal, which is just not true with today's technology. There are two solutions: They can either provide enough routers to provide the necessary bandwidth for everybody's devices, which will undoubtedly result in an increase in our rent; or they can remove the routers and allow residents to provide their own routers, allowing the residents themselves to control the devices that are connected to their own routers. I believe that asking the Department of Residence to remove the routers and allowing residents to provide their own routers would be the best solution. If you believe that this solution is the best, as I do, then please sign this petition and let's hope the Department of Residence listens to it's residents.
