As HISD began their search for a new Principal at Kashmere Senior High School, they were urged to recruit a professional with the stability and proven track record needed to effectively manage Kashmere and make a positive difference at the school. To our dismay, with only a few years’ experience, a new principal was selected at Kashmere. This decision was clearly not reflective of our request. With HISD’s refusal to reverse their hiring decision, we petition for the immediate removal of the current Principal. In our collective opinion, her work history does not possess the minimum requirements expected by HISD. She has yet to acquire the skills necessary to provide Kashmere students with a rigorous environment to successfully prepare them for higher education or the workplace.

Kashmere High School has been negatively impacted by the instability in campus leadership. There have been effectively eight leadership changes over the past seven years. The lack of continuity in leadership has accelerated the decline of the school’s academic performance. The performance issues that impact Kashmere are profound and complex. It is imperative that the new principal have a proven track record of instructional excellence and documented achievement. The principal selection process is governed by HISD policy. That policy was not followed in 2010 and it proved disastrous for our students. The principal appointed did not have the adequate experience to get the job done. The same lack of integrity in the selection process has occurred again in 2012. As a community we must unite! Either we have a voice and work together to protect the interest of our children or we allow HISD’s administration to disregard our best interest and steamroll the process. HISD wants you to pay more in taxes and pass a multi-billion dollar bond issue.

Enough is enough.
