Understand that this is not a petition about the residents or even permanently removing the residents but instead about the general dilapidation of this area. The city of New Orleans and its vibrancy depend upon the redevelopment of Canal Street. Once a grand avenue running from the river to the lake - it now grinds to a halt at the corner of Rampart and Canal. Flanked by empty surface parking lots and decades of neglect this area has now become a hindrance to the City’s redevelopment.
