A nominee must be the spouse of a current member of the U.S. Armed Forces (U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, or National Guard).
Reserve military spouses are eligible if their servicemember has been activated for more than 180 days.
