Ashley Broadway has been named the Fort Bragg Spouse of the Year and will be competing for Military Spouse of the Year. But she is not a Military Spouse. She is the lesbian partner of a soldier in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg. She does not hold an ID card, and her marriage is not recognized by the military, this country, or the state she is representing. The award needs to be given to a true, deserving Army spouse.

Elizabeth Blevins, United States2 years ago Comments: I agree 100%...her 'marriage' is not recognized by the state or our military. The first criteria for nomination was being married to an active duty military member. Her nominations should have been disregarded...her marriage isn't legal. And her win is a slap in the face to the hundreds of military spouses who devote themselves to the entire military community.
Terri L. Powell, United States2 years ago Comments: I am a "legal and legimate" spouse of a United States Army Colonel and I resent the fact that someone who has no ID card, not enrolled in DEERS and introduced herself as CPT Heather Mack's "cousin" at Osan Air Base, Korea (deceiver) could be recognized as a Ft. Bragg "spouse"....Surely there are plenty of worthy, bonafied Ft. Bragg spouses out there....I can name a few for you if you need any help with this since that was our previous duty station. Call me and I can give them to you. Stop making this a political issue and dissing "real" Army spouses.
Beverly Rush, United States2 years ago Comments: She is not a spouse, she is a girl friend, so be consistent, there are plenty of spouses out there that deserve this, that have ID cards and are an actual spouse.
