More than the pets, think of the family members, that are getting incarcerated, searched, robbed and shot in this terrible domestic war. God bless and good luck!Flag

Name: Hollie Perkins on Sep 3, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: I was searching the internet for pictures of Cocker Spaniels, came acrossed this story so I had to read it, I have two cocker spaniels, Spirit 10 mths and Pride 7 weeks, they are like my kids, which I have two human kids a girl 3 and a boy 19 mths, I strongly believe our pets should be protected, because if the tables were turned and the owner shoot her dog she would have gotten in trouble, Cocker Spaniels are not like Bull Dogs or Rotts. They are loving, playful animals that would not harm anyone, I should know that for a fact, like I said I have 2 cockers and 2 children, My children are rough with my dogs and my dogs have never tried to bite my kids or me, If someone comes in my yard, my dogs run to them fast, but always stops and starts jumping on that person until they given the dogs some loving (AS I CALL IT). But anyways I believe with my heart and soul in this petition.Flag

Please keep the fight going against our so called milwaukees finest...They are to trigger happy. Besides wasn't Sprite on your property and not on the city street. Why would he have to have a leash on private property Good Luck to you in your fight to get justice for Sprite.Flag

Name: Melissa Noe on Sep 9, 2003State: IDCountry: USComments: I am very sorry about your dog. In March 9, 2003 My dog was shot and killed in my front yard from the Payette city officers. They would not let me or my husband confort him while dieing or we were to go to jail. They fired at him three times but he was only shot once. He was a german shepard rot mix. I know thats why they shot him just out of scare. My dog was the lovingest family kid dog I've ever known never thought somebady would shoot and kill him in our front yard. We didn't even call them out to our house, The reason they come to our house, was over a friend that was there, whos ex husband was coming over and thought he needed to be escorted by the police. The only thing I remember is looking out the front door and saying the cops are here and why Before I could make it to my front door was when I herd one shot then boom boom two more. I opened up the door and saw my dog and two officers. I sceamed why did you shoot my dog They said because he was attacking us. I said no way my dog never has in five years of owning him since a puppy. My dog was still alive, I was crying and tried to confort him but they wouldn't let me. I told them to save my dog or I will sue you. Finally after 20 minutes I got so frustrated I said is he going to die cause he was shot in the side, I knew lungs. They wouldn't answer me. So I told them to shoot him in the head if he is going to suffer. The said aore you otherizing that I said yes if he's going to suffer. They didn't they did call vet 20 minutes after shot. well my husband and I were very shook up he was are son in the family. We have a little girl who loved him so much. We finally went to are dog while he was getting worse. I didn't care if I was going to jail or not. I layed my dogs head on my lap as my husband held his body. All the officers by this time there was the whole city of officers just looking and talking like know big thing. I got to confort him right when he died maybe a minute. The vet got there and claimed him dead. My dog suffered 45 minutes long I'm in the process right now of sueing the city for truspassing and shooting my dog with no probible cause. Three days after this all happened, I went to the cheil of police to file a complant on cruelty to animals, well he handed my a sitation for vicous dog attacking officers which got dropped and dog at large which I pled guilty for even though it was in my yard but any dog is considered dog at large if not chained up. I think they should of retreived in a more profetional way. They got mace they got taiser guns I mean they could of called for the owner. But all they did was shoot him. I'm a little scared to sue them cause I'm just a citizen of the town and there the law. But it doesnt make it right. I want JUSTICE. More people like you and I need to stepp up more even if loose just to prove a point.Flag

Name: Sandy Middlemas on Sep 13, 2003State: NCCountry: USComments: We recently had a similar incident occur in Tennessee when an officer needlessly gunned down a family's dog. There has to be better training of police officers to learn to not be so trigger happy when it comes to family dogs. It is unacceptable to keep hearing that they felt that they had the right to kill these innocent family pets. Just because they have a gun doesn't mean that they have to use it. How about using mace, pepper spray, anything else that can subdue an animal but not kill it. There seems to be an utter lack of common sense among these police officers who needlessly kill these animals...save us from these unintelligent officers.Flag

This police officer shot and killed a companion aniamls that was not a threat. He reacted and pulled the trigger without oibviouslt assessing the situation. This should be a concern to everyone, will he pull a gyn on a person next time This was cruel, avoidable and unnecessary.Flag

If you fire your gun so carelesslly and needlessly--you are not managing your fear, common sense and good judgment. Our loved pets should not die because of your inadequacy.Flag

Name: Lorrie Goeden on Nov 29, 2003State: WICountry: USComments: Any cop who doesn't know the difference between an agressive and non-agressive dog lacks common sense and a brain. Not all dogs act like inner city pitbulls. Most people in the neighborhood where this occured treat their dogs humanely so in turn their dogs are friendly. Most people who have a distrust of dogs not like them and do not understand them. In my opinion these people are a certain type of animal themselves because they act like they don't have a brain. I hope this animal who shot your dog loses her job. SHE should not have a gun!Flag
