Comments: 1999 Ford Expedition--148,000 miles. About two months ago the #1 plug blew out destroying the coil. I was able to put a new plug in and replaced the coil. Until this time I had only replaced about 6 coil packs on this engine that went bad. I had told a friend of mine what had happened and he said it would happen again, that this had been a problem with the 5.4. He owns a automotive repair shop. About 400 miles later...# 3 blows out , this time damaging the threads and another coil. I have been rebuilding diesel engines for 30 years and using a kit just for this repair, I spent almost a day repairing it myself and replacing the other 7 plugs. I had replaced all the plugs at approx 120,000 miles. This is very disapointing to see so many of you have had the same problem, that should have not happened at all. It is not common for spark plugs to just blow out. I will not at all feel safe about driving this car anymore, let alone letting my family go in it. Ford needs to address this issue and take care of it. Sure it will be exspensive for them, but not as exspensive as loosing so many customers. I myself plan on contacting a Ford Service Rep and get their response to this issue. I will post it to this website and let you know what they say. I have own Ford products for years myself and hope they will come to the table on some kind of help to the consumer.

Comments: My 02 F150 Harley Edition with about 70K blew the number 4 spark plug last weekend as soon as I put it in drive to pull out of my garage. I originally thought about a screwed up installation but checked my records and there were never any repairs done that required the spark plugs to be replaced. Once I got online to research how to repair it I came across all of the posts out there with the same problem. Now I am worried when it will happen again!

Comments: 2003 Excursion shot plug out stranding my wife on her way to pick up our girls from school. Huge risk for wreck or fire/explusion as my wife was in the middle of rush hour traffic in San Antonio, TX and had to drive out of the way of speeding traffic not knowing if the damn truck was going to kill her or get her standed in front of a semi-truck. Now where left with one car and the mechanics want $3200 to fix. Ford should man up and stand behind there production line, which includes their defected items.

Comments: we own a 2002 F250 and it now has 130,000 km on the engine. most recently we have noticed that when we slow down from 100 km hr to 70 km per hour and then speed back up to 100km per hour that the truck seems to have a jerking motion to it. i have been told that this could be a spark plug problem and i am taking it to the garage tomorrow to get looked at. i do have an aluminum block in the truck also as well as the ppl i have read their complaints and stories. almost makes us scared to drive our vehicle. in the past we have had several problems with rick johnson ford in fernie bc as to sluffing off what has been their responsibility to fix. our hidden back doors started to rust when the truck was only 2 years old and the tailgate. ford has stated this is not their problem. our truck has been well maintained and serviced over the years. very sad that you pay 60,000.00 to a company for a vehicle and this is the type of behavior the company grants you back. next time... i will buy a dodge or a chev!!

Comments: I was sitting at a stop light and as I accelerated it started making this loud noise as I was just coming into a large town I had to drive it that way til I got to work which was about 10 minutes away, now mind you I drive in the country and if this would of happened there I would have been stranded and I dont have a cell phone to call anyone . Now my truck sits at work and I have no $ to get it fixed or any way to get to work. What do you suggest that I do The truck only has 73,000 miles on it and I am very upset that nothing is being done by FORD!!! I am 1 unhappy customer. Now if I could afford to get it fixed whos to say that another 1 wont blow!!! It seems like whenever something goes wrong its so expensive to get it fixed. Yeah come on government bail the dealerships out and shit on the citizens!!
