Back in 2009, Warner Bros. started releasing multi-disc versions of the Harry Potter films known as the "Ultimate Editions". These versions contained 3-4 discs which contained the film, an extended cut of the film, the regular bonus features and a bonus disc which held new documentaries and specials, including an hour of the Creating the World of Harry Potter. Each set also came with a digital copy, collectable character cards and a book that corresponded with the part of the Documentary. They were advertised originally to release one of these sets for each of the eight films; which they did, up until Year 6. After that they stopped releasing them. Fan reaction was annoyed, but everyone figured they would continue when the both Deathly Hallows was released on DVD. Recently they announced that these final installments would ONLY be available in the upcoming Wizards Collection of the Harry Potter films. This collections runs up to $499.99, which is VERY steep considering that the Ultimate Editions were $40. This Wizards Collection, while very cool, is insane! I believe the Wizards Collection should be separate from the Ultimate Editions. They should release the Wizards Collection because it is a very interesting set, but they should also complete the Ultimate Editions for those who have already spent the $240 dollars to get years 1-6. So we are going to try to get Warner Bros. to see this as well. It would be smart on their part because then they can not only gain profit from the Die-Hard Potter fans for the Wizard Collection, yet not lose buisness from all the people who feel cheated for the Ultimate Editions.
