Rejoice and Shout is a film that examines the evolution of Gospel music and its influence on other genres of music like blues, country, and rock and roll. This film features interviews and classics performances from Smokey Robinson, Mavis Staples and the Staple Singers, Mahalia Jackson, Clara Ward, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Andrae Crouch, The Blind Boys of Alabama, the Selvey Family, Darrel Petties . The film is scheduled to be released in theaters June 3, 2011, however, there are currently no viewings scheduled in DC. We want to encourage as many people as possible to sign this petition so we can create a buzz about this movie to theater owners so they will play it in their theaters.
