151 Chris MaesFollow the law. Academic Freeom and the First Amendment are being severely disregarded.
152 Anna KoesterI'm glad to see this petition! I will hope that there are people on the board who understand who can do the Constitutional thing in spite of pressure from those who don't understand the first thing about education The should reinstate Ward Churchill who never should have been attacked by right-wing nuts.
153 Matthew JohnsonYou can't silence the truth.

158 Marshall KettnerIt is a shame that a seemingly respectful and well respected university such as CU would kowtow to political pressure and agendas. If you try to silence the voice of your faculty, you might as well silence the voices of your students.
159 Kent HolcombHow sad that the State of Colorado no longer believes in our First Amendment rights. It's frighening that men such as Bill Owens and Hank Brown led this witch hunt.

161 Andre Dahlthe firing of churchill is just the sick sign on the way USA is heading these days.. fascism
162 Andrea PetersonThis is a witch hunt plain and simple. I thought the first amendment was still in place. Looks like there are still those who would like to hush up anyone who thinks for themselves. What has this country come to where anyone who speaks up has to deal with such closed mindedness. Ward was right, the Third Reich is alive and well in America.

171 Paul SchultzAbandon being a pawn for those who would strip critical voices for the pat on the head from the would-be power mongers. As a Tribal elder have deep respect for Ward.. Blood quantum is the kiss of death for our tribes. It seems that some of those calling themselves Tribal citizens cannot taste the poison you have given them to drink. Ward is a hero, one who tells the truth.
172 Eric Hartmansee my letter dated 2/11/05 in support of Churchill. If you didn't read it then, read it now if you bothered to keep it.

178 AnonymousWard Churchill is a respected intellect who needs to be the voice for the Native American Nation. And to those who condemn him, you know you should be condemning yourselves.

187 Mike O'ShaughnessyI believe the silencing of diverse and alternative thoughts, questions, opinions, and observations must cease. The University of Colorado's actions only reinforce the idea prevalent in this Bush-era timeframe that thoughts and ideas can be controlled by the minority. Please reevaluate your recent decision for the sake of continued freedoms for all individuals, particularly those who with we disagree.

195 Chris MaroldoIn light of the Right's assault on the Constitution, it is imperative that you stand up to the political pressures and allow Professor Churchill to continue as a tenured professor.
196 Chris Mato Nunpa, Ph.D.As a professor of Indigenous Nations & Dakota Studies (INDS), I have found out, based upon my experience at my higher education institution in southwestern Minnesota, the truth of Professor Roger Buffalohead's statement. Professor Buffalohead writes, "As skilled teachers of American Indian history and culture will agree, it is difficult to tell the truth about Indian experiences in America without leaving the impression that the United States is a wicked, dishonest, immoral hypocritical, racist and self-serving nation." We in Indigenous Nations Studies do teach from an Indigenous world-view and perspective which is not only radically different but also most of the time diametrically opposed to what is taught of U.S. history in the educational systems of this country. We, Indigenous academics, scholars, & educators, definitely present alternative historical interpretations which portray the U.S. in an unfavorable light. For example, the peoples who had their lands stolen are going to look at and tell things differently than the people who stole the lands. The United States stole approximately three billion acres within the continental United States from the Indigenous Peoples, etc. We can list example after example of this type of alternative interpretations. This is what Professor Ward Churchill teaches - he teaches the TRUTH! And, for this, challenging the status quo and encouraging critical thinking, Dr. Churchill has been, and continues to be, harrassed and punished.
