Glenn SpagnuoloLets remember, this was about an essay that made Americans uncomfortable confronting what is done in their names. The rest is just a smoke screen created by CU to give an air of respectability to their violations of Ward's First Ammendment Rights!

Margot BackusWard Churchill has clearly been targeted for political rather than academic reasons, and his transgressions are against mainstream assumptions, not against the norms of rigorous intellectual inquiry. If his dismissal is allowed to stand, it poses a clear threat to the security of all intellectuals who aren't willing to tailor their findings to suit a climate as hostile to free inquiry as any this country has ever known.

Val PhillipsProfessor Churchill is a gift to the University, one of its brightest lights. Please take a strong stand in defense of academic freedom, ethnic studies and reinstate this outstanding professor. Thank you.

Ara CruzI've been totally embarrassed by the witch-hunt that started when the university realized that they couldn't fire Churchill for what he said. Instead, they established a process and several committees with the unsaid purpose of punishing him. The most hypocritical: The committee that wrote the report accusing Churchill of research misconduct, from which the decision was based, now has five sets of research misconduct charges pending against it (from 15 professors, 2 lawyers, & Churchill himself)! These complaints document the committee's falsification and fabrication of evidence as well as plagiarism. The right-wing media hasn't reported this glaring contradiction (a committee charges Churchill of research misconduct while doing just that) because they've been in a frenzy for Churchill's head. The University wants to get the media off its back so it quietly discounts the charges. Apparently, they don't want to be held up to the same standard they've set for Churchill.

solidad decostaContrary to the unfortunate (and inaccurate) finding of your board, Ward Churchill's widely-cited work has been a significant influence in my work as a performer, lecturer and public educator, as well as thousands of others. Please reconsider your misguided stance towards this important member of our community. Sincerely, solidad decosta teacher, writer, peformer

Rev. Kurt A. KuhwaldI lived and worked in Boulder 1996 - 2000. I was most appreciative of the strong moral model Professor Churchill brought to our American life. This firing is a smear on the record of freedom of thought and speech in the American Commons and as an example of University integrity. Professor Churchill needs to be reinstatedl

AnonymousThe firing of Professor Churchill is an outrageous act and goes against the very essence of free speech. This was an act of revenge by a reactionary president and a board of regent consists of rich whit men and women.

Prof. Bertell OllmanMark Twain said that we Americans enjoy "three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them". Fortunately, some in the universities as elsewhere in our society have lacked this prudence, but - like Ward Churchill - they have generally paid a price for it. Now, more than ever - and whether we agree with all they say or not - they speak for all of us, and we must stand with them.
