Scholars should not have to kowtow to war mania. University of Colarado Regents, you should quit while you're behind and reinstate Professor Churchill now.Flag

Name: Donald Bliek on Aug 4, 2007Comments: I have read countless books and seen hondreds of hours of film- and video material on politics, war, conspiracy's, empire building, secret societies, human behaviour, political murders, censorship, abuse of power, the effects of fear brought upon people and many, many related subjects. I am well educated but work as a nurse. From this combined background you can take my word for it that I know a great deal of human behaviour. I have never met Ward Churchill but I was, and continue to be chilled to the bone by one of his speeches. You have fired one of he most honest and brave men living in America today and from that: one of the people your country currently needs most. Firing Ward Churchill is a show of force that reads like a expression of fear. It is a decision only people of less integrity can make. It is a manifestation not daring to say 'no'. You lack the bravery of Mr. Churchill and it is my believe that deep down, where it is shared with none, you too share my point of view. But hush, hush... History will prove my pointFlag

Name: Chris Fraser on Aug 4, 2007Comments: Churchill's firing and the whole attack on him are outrageous. These rightwingers have no scruples whatsoever. They blantantly lie and slander. I hope Churchill's lawsuit succeds. It will be interesting to see these fools try and defend themselves in court. As Churchill recently said in an interview: now he's on the offensive.Flag

Name: Jessica Orr on Aug 4, 2007Comments: This is a blatant retaliatory action by the university for Professor Churchill's expression of his views. Most universities hire their teaching staff FOR their reasoning capabilities so I am perplexed at the University of Colorado's actions. Do yourself a favor and support your best and brightest professors.Flag

Name: Cecilia Slaughter on Aug 4, 2007Comments: this is a travesty and so indicative of the graceless age in which we live. Our "american values" that guided us from a fledgling group of colonies to the "world's largest super power" is a sham if a man like Mr Churchill is treated in such a fashion. sadly, cecilia lee slaughter, las vegas, nvFlag

Name: Jeanne Chadwick on Aug 4, 2007Comments: Freedom of speech is under attack in this country as is our Constitution, in general by this administration in the name of anti-terrorism. Even when we do not agree with something someone has written, we cannot blacklist the point of view. Even though officials in the position to fire Churchhill have been under great political pressure to do so - they must remember they are educators and that tomorrow it could be one of them who is losing their position for saying or writing something that is not politically correct or to the liking of those in power.Flag

Name: Ray Evans Harrell on Aug 6, 2007Comments: This whole affair has been shameful and reflects poorly on everyone concerned. From the people who claim that a man's family history is fraudulent, when all they have is genocidal public records, to the behaviour of Indian scholars who deny things that we all know are true from our own family histories. This reflects embarrassingly on the nation, its lack of sophistication and honesty and our intelligence. As for the comments about 9/11 call c-span and ask for the speeches of Thomas Barnett of the Navy war college and his meetings with Wall Street firms over the military future of the middle east. It's all on the news. All you have to do is listen and think, a little.Flag

Name: Michael Ryan on Aug 6, 2007Comments: Like many Canadians and other non-US citizens, I've watched the process against Ward Churchill with no small interest. Although hardly a singular example, Ward Churchill's case, nonetheless, fills many of us with foreboding as we watch the world's most powerful nation become more bellicose in its foreign policy and more authoritarian, at times bordering on protofascist, in its internal behaviour. Reinstating Ward Churchill would be a good first step towards reversing this trend.Flag
