The neglect of these fine public servants that went the extra mile is inexcusable. There is no way she can justify the treatment these officers are receiving. I now I hear there are Firemen involved in this Workers Comp neglect as well.Flag

Name: Joyce A. Vath on May 26, 2009Comments: I am very angry and upset at the treatment these officers have to endure. My son choose to go and work for the APD 9 years ago when he was just out of high school. He risks his life every day for the people of Atlanta and for what. We come from a very small town in Iowa in comparison and even with the hard times pay our officers at least 10 thousand dollars more to start than my son is making right now. How pathetic is that. City of Atlanta , You should be totally ashamed of yourselves!! These brave young men and women risk their lives every day and for what. This treatment. Time to wake up and give these police officers who have been hurt on the job what they are intitled to. Also, the ones who are protecting your City every day!!!!!!!!Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 26, 2009Comments: Your Mayor seems to be handling this situation very UNPROFESSIONAL. S he knows her office is always open for crticisim and people will speak out especially in the mistreating of injured officers. My grandfather was a Chief of Police in my home town and would also stand up for his officers. Granted that was 40 years ago but it is all about the brotherhood and bond the officers have with each other. Your Mayor ought to be appalled at her behavior and a petition stared to REMOVE her from office not your chief. Than you and good luck.Flag

Name: David Germaneso on May 26, 2009Comments: Mayor Franklin, stop taking yourself so seriously. Face it, if it doesn’t involve the sewer system, you have accomplished little, and even that is under water financially. If you refused to address these heroes needs and your administration hired a firm that intentionally stonewalls their pleas for support, you deserve all the criticism you get. Sgt Kreher was deservedly frustrated with you and used a figure of speech that you found offensive. Get over it! I would like to think a big city mayor was woman enough to accept his apology and address the situation that caused the frustration. Stop acting like a victim, it is way too common these days. For too long, you have given lip service to the needs of APD. Your exit cannot come soon enough.Flag

Kreher is a travesty that Shirley Franklin, who stood up to a citizen who question her authority when she decided to close the fire station in the west end area by telling the citizen that she can get "philly" on him. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.Flag
