Comments: Ed Bower's suspension is an absolute disgrace. Our guild has once again shown itself to be appallingly undemocratic and I am embarrassed to be a member of it.

Comments: It is absolutely disgraceful for a guild of students and a university to punish those taking up political action and to stand up for a decent education system. The suspension of Edward Bauer is deeply unfair and questionable. This puts the credibility of the student guild at risk and to disgrace, especially when it comes to upholding democracy. Not only, should students be the ones to hold their elected officers accountable but students (and student officers themselves) should not be punished for political activities, in this case a simple banner drop.

Comments: At Cardiff University, an officer cannot be sacked without a cross-campus vote of confidence. Whoever is responsible at Birmingham Guild should be ashamed of themselves for this trampling of democracy.

Comments: Peaceful protest not a crime. Ed has done nothing wrong. Your actions however threaten the right to protest in a democratic society. Shame on you.

Comments: Guild of students this is such a disappointment, during the time I was a member of the guild things have been getting worse and worse. Your oppression of freedom of expression is ever more stifleing. Why can't you get a backbone and stick up for students and stop persecuting people who are campaigning against the way that the government have compromised the education system in this country?

Comments: This is ridiculous, you can now be thrown into jail for 10 days for peaceful protest? This looks to be a case of grasping desperately for the nearest vaguely relevant piece of legislation in order to stifle a perfectly valid point of view. Clearly, what Ed did does not affect his ability to act as Vice Chair, and in fact what he actually did was no cause for such reaction, the fundamental, democratic right to peaceful protest.
