Name: Carolyn Mclaughlin on Jan 9, 2005State: MACountry:Comments: Fr. McLaughlin is a saint among priests. He offers all he has to those in need even to the deprivation of his own comfort. He is faithful to his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. He has often been asked over the years to perform religious ceremonies even for his family and has clearly stated he would first have to get permission from the chancery. For Fr. McLaughlin to be tossed out without any consideration or due process disavows all the years and good deeds he has done during his life. Even Jesus received a trial when he was accused. Does this holy priest deserve any less In over 42 years as a priest, he has counseled thousands of adults, teens and children...yes, children, and there has not been one...NOT ONE...accusation..his nature is to cooperated with the culture and ethnic behaviors of all people...that includes, hand shake, or hugs or pats on the head..and even as the French...a kiss on the cheek..for this behavior to be eschewed as molestation is sinful...For the head of the Catholic Church in the archdiocese of Boston to consider Father McLaughlin's behavior as anything but holy and spiritual is beyond belief. To take the word of a person with questionable puropose over the word and depositions of thousands of others is beyond belief....at least he is due his day in court..and then let his accuser swear on the Holy Bible in the presence of his fellow citizens that Father McLaughlin is guilty...I don't believe he will...The dollar is mightier than the truth for some people!Flag

Name: Christie Principe on Jan 10, 2005State: NYCountry: USComments: Fr. John married my sister and brother-in-law, Dan and Cara McLauglin for whom I was the maid of honor and has also baptized their four children of whom I am God-mother to their eldest daughter. He has been a constant support, help and friend to Dan and Cara and has shown nothing but love towards our family. I will be praying as I have been for his reinstatement.Flag

Name: Robert Quagan on Jan 10, 2005State: MACountry: USComments: I've known Fr. McLaughlin through his tireless work with the Holy Name Society over the last 5 years. I am now serving as the acting President of the Archdiocesan Union of Holy Name Societies (AUHNS). I also know Fr. John from my ( and my family's) participation in the HNS Holy Hour at St. Benedict Somerville every Friday evening (6:00PM). I particularly miss his homilies, his obvious (and infectious) love of Christ and His Holy Name, His Church and the Souls to which he has ministered, his love for our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, his Latin Benedictions and his love (and gift) for language, history and culture.Flag

Name: Harry Cope, Sr. on Jan 11, 2005State: PACountry: USComments: As Chairperson of the St. Dismas Prison Ministry, under the banner of the National Holy Name Society, I've had Fr. John help me in the spread of our ministry across the nation. A good example was at the National Convention of the Holy Name Society in New Orleans, he came to our prison ministry training workshop. He did an outstanding presentation on the power of prayer for prisoners. He did such an effective job that many signed up to be on our HNS Metanoia retreats. He has always been a supporter of our prison ministry since 1984. I pray that something can be done. I told him at the NAHNS Convention in New York last year - "you are carring a heavy cross, but you are on your way to Saint Hood."Flag
