View Point Television and its team have been proud to partner with the CTAC Board and KPAO since prior to the closing of the Cox Studios last April. View Point is the only program in the Omaha Metro area that takes on the tough issues like gun control, the Keystone XL Pipeline and Immigration and bring together all sides of the issue and presents a platform that allow a respectful conversation to present the differing views to our viewers. CTAC/KPAO has directed View Point to change its successful 1-hour program and condense it to only a 30 minute program. Here are the facts: • View Point was reduced from its regular 10:30 – 11:30 am time slot, to 10:30 – 11:00am • The second half-hour of our time has been filled with “Omaha Local Program” which is reruns of older programs, and not replaced with a new, locally produced, programming • Democracy Now fills 2.5 hours of KPAO broadcast time with new programming. • All time slots without current, actively produced programming, has been filled by “Omaha Local Program” • “Omaha Local Program” fills 138.5 hours (83% of all broadcast time) of the KPAO schedule on a weekly basis • This is not new and current programming. Some of this pre-recorded program in 2,3 or even 5 years old • Given the sheer number of hours to fill, even this content will be replayed several times on KPAO We have provided KPAO with new locally produced programming, even when the Cox Studio was closed and CTAC was not able to provide an alternative. We worked very hard, and at great monetary expense, to place us in a position to continue providing new, current and locally produced programming to CTAC. Each of our programs take 100’s of volunteer hours to produce, and we are proud to be part of the CTAC/KPAO family. The petition signers are demanding that View Point be reinstated to its original Saturday 10:30 - 11:30 am time slot.
