One of West Belfast's first and most iconic murals dedicated to Irish revolutionary and H-Block activist who was murdered by a British military death-squad was recently painted over by revisionists seeking to airbrush the prominent role of Irish Republican Socialists out of Irish history.
Miriam Daly, the INLA volunteer, the political activist, the esteemed academic, the loving wife and mother who was gunned down by the forces of British imperialism will never be forgotten by her comrades and even in death remains an exemplary model for today’s young Republican Socialist activists who seek to follow bravely in her footsteps.

I am currently coordinating with local historians to draft a formal request for the restoration of the site. Your continued commitment to this historical preservation effort is noted and appreciated.

The momentum behind this effort demonstrates a clear refusal to let the history of Miriam Daly be erased. It is encouraging to see such widespread recognition of her legacy and the importance of preserving our political heritage.

They can try to hide our past but they wont succeed. Miriam Daly is a hero and her memory should be respected on those walls just like it always has been. Disgusting behavior by whoever did this.
