SUCCESS OF SUZUKI STUDENTS IN JAMESTOWN Oct 13. 2012 | Comments (0)
"Yes, we have very successful Suzuki students:
Jenna Anderson, graduate of Eastman School of Music, and Cleveland Institute of Music, and currently part of a professional quartet.
Ashton Bush, graduated from University of Boston as a violin performance major and was there on full scholarship.
Marie Karbacka, graduated from Mercyhurst with a 4.0 and was there on full tuition scholarship.
Katie Magnuson
Chris Grifa
Eric Lundquist
Kristen Almleaf
and countless others majoring in music or graduate of a music program with a Bachelor of Music.
There is no question the program was successful!
We had over 100 students, and students representing us in area-all state ensembles. No one would disagree with this! We have had students perform in Philadelphia with Dr. Suzuki. Students who performed in a celebration concert at Carnegie Hall, NY City. We have performed all around the community - the grand opening of the renovated Prendergast Library, at LSS, Heritage Village, for Interclub council, Rotary, Mozart Club, at WCA Hospital, etc.etc. It is very frustrating that the program was cut because of reasons not connected to the success of the students or the impact in the community.
There is documentation and research that prove music helps children succeed in standardized tests.
