As some of you may have heard, Pn. Ruth Cheah was suddenly transferred to S.M.K Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara recently after having taught at S.M.K. Damansara Jaya for over 2 decades. Based on the news report below, it seems that she was transferred out of S.M.K. Damansara Jaya because she had taken over the teaching of Bible Knowledge (a legitimate SPM subject) at S.M.K. Damansara Jaya during Christian Fellowship meetings. She had also been serving as the acting-head of the school at the time. As a former student of Pn. Cheah's, I find it ludicrous that not only has a teacher who provided such an invaluable service to her school been transferred out of the blue; but that she had been transferred for basically doing her job, that is educating her students and preparing them for their examinations.
This petition has been set up to pressure the Education Ministry to look into the situation as soon and as efficiently as possible, reinstate Pn. Ruth Cheah back in S.M.K Damansara Jaya where she belongs, and act as a deterrent if in the future any other education officers act in such an unjustifiable manner again. Please sign if you are a former DJ-ian or if you are a person who believes in the freedom of education--that instead of being punished one should be commended for doing her noble job.

Comments: Message to the Education Ministry: What do you understand about 1 Malaysia? If you want to weed out all teachers whom act as replacement teachers for subjects at school, you might as well transfer out 50% of the teachers in all schools in Malaysia
