We, the undersigned are both long-time and relatively new fans of the New York Rangers. We are season ticket holders, those who only occasionally attend a Ranger game at Madison Square Garden and those who can only watch on TV. No matter how old we are, or where we live, or what section we sit in, John Amirante is one of us. He is part of the Ranger experience and a member of the Ranger family. The crowd is never louder or more fired up than when John's anthem inspires us before a big game. A big game at MSG without John singing the national anthems, like Game 1 vs the Penguins on Thursday night, just isn't the same.
Press reports have indicated that MSG told him that this year was going to be his last year and he was to be given 3 regular season games and 1 playoff game. If press reports are true, we want to express our disgust and dismay for the treatment of someone who is such a core member of the Rangers family.
Resolved, we respectfully ask for MSG to reconsider this short-sighted treatment of John. Further, we ask that he be granted the opportunity - assuming he is physically capable - to sing the national anthems for EVERY home game during this 2015 playoff season and for future seasons to come.
