Steven Cobb is a former Family Dollar employee who was recently fired after he was robbed at gun point while working as a cashier at the Outer Drive / Mound location in Detroit (19737 Mound Detroit, MI 48234) on November 10, 2011. Cobb is a U.S Navy and Army Reserve veteran. He has three children and a wife who works part-time and attends school. Cobb was fired two weeks following the robbery and was told by management that it was due to having too much cash in his drawer at the time of the robbery. Cobb reports that it was extremely busy on the night of the incident and he was focused on getting the line of customers out before making a cash drop. The robber handed Cobb cash to pay for his purchase and when Cobb looked up he had a gun pointed in his face. We are asking that Family Dollar Corporate rehire Cobb and implement better security for their store employees as armed robberies of their stores are only increasing. If they refuse to rehire Cobb by signing this petition you are agreeing to boycott their stores. Family Dollar has locations throughout Metro Detroit, heavily depending on community dollars. Why then is it that their community employees cannot be better protected of their lives as well as their employment? Please sign this petition so that it can be delivered to the corporate office of Family Dollar.
