regulated domestic animals
I'm suggesting a change to our city ordinance which states certain domestic animals are prohibited. I believe many animals can be considered house pets if trained, kept and well maintained. I propose we amend the ordinance to see fit owning a well maintained reasonable sized animal (a potbelly pig in particular) as a house pet. I understand there are some issues that can and need to be addressed. Cleanliness and health are a big concern. If an Animal is kept clean and all fecal and urinary matter disposed of as you would with a pet dog there is very little difference, Many pet pigs are even litter box trained! And if the animal is kept up to date on shots and has a good standing with a vetinarian much like a pet dog, i see no difference. If an Animal is fed correctly and maintained on a balanced diet they should stay at a health Weight. Pigs are very social and can be taught simple and complex tricks much like any other domesticated pet.
