Brodsky, who has introduced his own Empire Zone reform proposal, said he thinks the bill that passed Wednesday should have done more to close a loophole that allows a company to erase its income tax liability for 10 years by hiring one worker.

| 6 | Stan Jakim | I've been disgusted with most politicians at the State and national levels for years and I'm finally getting more and more proactive and vocal about these things. Funny thing is that the "politicians" seem to be the "last to know" as it relates to citizens being fed up with this nonsense. I'm a small business owner getting absolutely no help at all so you can bet I'm fed up and sickened when I see the "pork" and big companies getting the help that I should be getting. If it continues I'll probably leave the State permanently (I left once and moved back to start my business). |

The existing Empire Zone program is a disaster... and the IDA programs are not much better, really. We need to start over on economic development programs, and do much, much better. At the very least, the loopholes must be closed immediately. |
