Tonya | Adkins | WV | US | My father was a steel worker, and experienced the same thing. It's a shame that these corporations are allowed to treat workers this way when men and women devote their entire lives to these businesses. Our government has a responsibility to protect ALL citizens, not just corportations.
Jenny | Fowler | OH | US | My father who was a retiree from Horizon has lost his health benefits as well as my mother. My father suffers from blacklung and many associated ailments. Now, big business wins again. When will the madness stop. What happened to our Congressmen and Senators abiding the will of the people. We are the people. The ones who work and struggle every day, and then get disinfranchised after many years of service to a company. Make Horizon and other coal companies keep their agreements, just like we, the working class have to.

patty | wallace | KY | US | Companies should not be allowed to evade their obligation to the workers who made their fortune for them.
David | Bienkoski | WV | US |
Philip | Smith | VA | US | This is wrong, and it's bad for America. When corporations can evade their responsibilities, and judges can defy federal law, something's wrong and must be fixed -- or our democracy itself is in danger.

Charles | French | PA | US |
Dean | Berry | WV | US | I lost my lifetime health card for me and my family with the UMWA because of these bankruptcy laws. Promises are to be kept. When a man spends over 20 years earning what he is promised, nothing, not even bankruptcy laws should stand in the way. Miners work in dangerous conditions and feel that it is worth it for the benefits. I have spent over 20 years putting my life in danger under the assumption that I was earning lifetime benefits for me and my family only to have them taken away overnight. It is not fair!

Alan | Comer | WV | US | This is a very sad day when people can be treated like this by our Goverment. See the only way this could happen is through a US Judge I say take all his benefits away and investigate him. I bet you will find hes loaded from the 3 Bankruptcy Trials hes ruled on against the workers. WE are talking about Billons of Dollers here. I guarantee you that hes a very rich skum sucker now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| 134 | Gary E. | Roop | WV | US | We (miners ) at one time secure in our pensions and benefits, not so now. Big busnon-union outfits can walk in (with the aid of a judge)take everyting we have worked all our live for. Please helpus fight this. The people that are losing everything are the ones that were smart enough to put you in your position of power.
Thank You, Gary E. Roop |
GAIL | COTTRELL | WV | US | Please get a Congressional Investigation into this Horizon Bankruptcy! It is not right for Don Blankenship and his BOUGHT & PAID FOR FEDERAL JUDGE IN Kentucky to do this to these men. What kind of country are we living in today when honest hard working men and women can be treated so unjustly? God Help Us ALL!! Please, I beg you to do something NOW! We need your help immediately!

Robert | Schultz | MD | US | People give their lives to support the corporation day by day for 30-40 years. There should be some sort of group corporate "insurance" provided to ensure that a weakened company's promises are kept fully.
