As many of you know, the ID cards that are used by students of Columbia College, Roosevelt University, DePaul University, and Robert Morris University are extremely important in everyday activities. These cards allow us to enter our home, eat our food, enter our rooms, and use a plethora of facilities including but not limited to the dance studio, fitness room, music practice rooms, use of vacuums, and use of recreational items such as pool tables and game systems. Although these cards allow us to have a large number of opportunities, the quality with which these cards are made is extremely disproportionate to their importance. Many of us have been asked to buy replacement cards at the extreme detriment to our wallets. While it is acceptable to expect us to pay for our lost property, it is not acceptable to expect college kids (a.k.a. people who often have a low source of income) to pay for replacement cards in the case of deterioration. We as students, demand that the quality of these keys are improved on the basis that they will be able to last one full year, or hereby request that replacement cards are available upon consultation of abuse to the original card. Ideas for this improvement include: 1. Lowering cost for replacement cards 2. Improving quality of original cards. 3. Using a different method of keys. 4. Offering students a buffer zone for replacement cards such as one free replacement card per semester.
