Many LGBT topics are discussed in the media but many important ones are ignored. When I dontated blood I was astounded to hear that the redcross does not accept blood donations from men who have had sex with other men. When I asked about the reason this policy was innact I was told that it was an attempt to keep the HIV/AIDS virus out of the donations. This is baffling, this policy is beyond outdated! It perpetuates the stereotype that gay me simply have HIV. There is no need for this policy! Redcross employees already ask if you have had sexual contact with someone who has the HIV virus, if this question is presented why is this discrimanatory policy still neccesary? Simple IT'S NOT NECESSARY!
