The petition
This petition is aimed at the government in an act to get some land set aside for 'no cost' recreational purposes. For many years now motocross riders, quad riders and four wheel drivers have had to pay the Government or RTA money to be aloud to use recreational land or have been fined for using land that is not permitted.
This petition is directed to ALL states of Australia, howevere, if i were to list all the riding places that have been closed down or demolished id find myself here for days.
Land sites well known within all industries in NSW alone include:
- Red Rock (Newcastle - NSW)
- White Rock (Meani - NSW)
- Stockton Bright Sand Dunes (Newcastle - NSW)
- Zig Zag Quarry (Lithgow - NSW)
- Hillsborough Quarry (Newcastle - NSW)
- Alkimos (Perth)
- Pippidini (Perth)
- Aqua Lakes (Ipswich - Queensland)
The above list is only a very small percent of what's been restricted, demolished, barricaded, and/or heavily guarded by rangers or police NATION WIDE.
It’s about time the motocross industry of Australia had their say and that’s what this petition is about. We are here to request land be accessible to general public with Indemnity forms. The land still belongs to the government but within the form it should state that ‘we as riders/drivers must take full responsibility of our actions and not hold the government in any way responsible for accidents/injury/break down or in major cases death’.
Bottom line is we are requesting that some places have motorbike and 4wd access without the $300+ recreational registration available from the RTA or the requirements to obtain at recreational registration on a motorbike (blinkers, headlights, etc). Simply with an indemnity form that can be picked up from any local service station near the riding location, have it signed and provide some form of photo identification.
