The goal of this Petition is to provide signatures and feedback in regards to the need for additional & well maintained outdoor recreational facilities in the Town of Essex. This should address the needs of both the youth and older residents who play various sports in the Town of Essex. Your signature and comments can help to be a voice to Council and Municipality that you are concerned and involved.

It has been increasingly obvious that the Town of Essex does not have the facilities to address the needs forcing adult baseball leagues to play out of town at other facilities as well as youth who leave for better facilities which puts the current programs at risk of folding.

Baseball, Football and  Soccer athletes in the Town of Essex have proven they can complete with the best in the Province of Ontario.

Why do we not have facilities that Towns half our size have?

What we have should be taken care of & maintained to a high standard so we promote a sense of pride in our community when hosting teams at our facilities.

Back on November 3rd of 2008 a presentation was shown to Council expressing concern about  the towns outdoor recreational facilities and we sit in the same position if not worse conditions.

It is important that the people our Community are heard and that we move forward for both the youth and older residents.

There is mounting evidence that the lack of physical activity is causing a burden on our health system. The most recent Heart and Stroke studies report that in the age group of seven-to-twelve year olds, one in four children are obese. Having a proactive plan in place to build and sustain baseball facilities will encourage more people to participate and lower this impact.
