The Cambridge Times chose to not publish the following letter to the editor that had been critical of the Conservative government in their plan to impose austerity measures at Veterans' Affairs Canada. This letter to the editor was submitted to the Cambridge Times in December, 2011: " I am writing in response to your excellent story by Bill Jackson on the petition in defiance of cuts to Veterans' Affairs. Also I applaud Mark Dawson in his outstanding efforts to raise this issue and for standing up for veterans. Gary Goodyear tells veterans, "Don't worry, be happy." But many legion members are not happy Mr. Goodyear. And the veterans Ombudsman, appointed by your own goverment, is not happy Mr. Goodyear.
