Ireland finds itself in turmoil. Jobless figures approach half a million people, while many of those that can find employment face a reality of negative equity, spiralling household costs and, at worst, an inability to pay mortgages. Students plan to leave in their droves after their degrees, while increases in the Student Servces Fee means fewer numbers will afford to go to third level anyway. The elderly too will be affected by cuts in the state pension. Every corner of Ireland and Irish society has been touched by this recession. 

         The IMF and EU bailout has now become an inevitability. 'Bailout' is the word on the lips of the nation. The planned austerity measures planned cannot be avoided, but the incompetant government that made them necessary can be. Let's send a message to that government. Let's use our collective voice. Let's get them to shoulder our burden too. More than that, let us take Ireland back and reinvent her to be great once more. Let us show the same spirit as our forefathers in showing pride in our beliefs.
