We are a group of residents in Dumfries who want to see the re-opening of the rail link from Dumfries (14 miles of track) to connect us once more to the fast direct route to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Restoring the original track to Lockerbie via Lochmaben is one option, but other routes possible include connecting Dumfries to Beattock or via Thornhill and across to Elvanfoot. This would transform our town of 50,000 people who live in and around Dumfries. Our first step is to persuade the Scottish Government to do a feasilbility study to look at the options of routes.
