Over the time that Ray Shero has been making personnel decisions for the Pittsburgh Penguins, his decisions regarding acquiring and trading players, and the decisions made by the franchise with respect to contract negotiations with existing players, have been overwhelmingly positive. Given that the Pittsburgh Pirates, a MLB franchise in the same city as the Penguins, have an abysmal history regarding the selection of players and contract negotiations, it is proposed that the Pirates hire Ray Shero in a consulting role to assist in player trade, acquisition, and retention decisions made by the franchise.
