We the undersigned believe that interests of the UK Recruitment Agency sector and the Employers and Candidates that use it are best served by the creation of a government appointed independent regulator. This body should have sufficient powers and no more, as determined through discussions with interested parties, to regulate the licensing of new agencies and to monitor compliance, against agreed standards of professionalism and behaviour, of all recruitment agencies. The body should have the power to rescind or temporarily suspend an existing agency’s license thus preventing it from trading legally and refuse a new entrant’s license.
