We respectfully protest the changes proposed to the existing Rapp Road as outlined in the Roadway Improvements which include plans to extend the roadway to Highway 377. We are especially concerned with plans affecting Rapp Road between Rufe Snow and Whitley Road. There is no logical or essential reason to extend Rapp Road into a major highway. According to the city’s website, traffic patterns area adequately served by the major arteries through the city. Further fracturing is not necessary or appealing. We propose that the City Council and its appointed committees take a look at what Keller once stood for and what we as a city hope to accomplish. Family neighborhoods are not frivolous nor are they something to be dismissed as an inconsequential cost factor. The city of Keller once won awards for the aesthetics of our neighborhoods, the attractiveness of our town and its desirable location. These awards are no longer given to Keller, presumably as we have moved away from protecting families and neighborhoods and instead concentrate on “growth” for the sake of growth with little consideration of the lasting environmental and personal consequences.
