Name: Anonymous on Feb 16, 2013Comments: Would be very helpful for the younger community in Fraser heights considering there's soooo many of us. People think fh is small its not its huge and more and more houses are getting built every year making getting even a normal bus difficult sometimes during busy hours. Also they don't even run late so having at least one late running bus for downtown on Friday and Saturday would be very helpful for a lot of peopleFlag

Name: Daryl Dela Cruz on Feb 17, 2013Comments: The RapidBus stop will significantly cut travel time for those in the area of Surrey wanting to access Coquitlam and particularly SFU. It will open up competitive transit options that may encourage transit use that doesn’t already exist because the current option is simply infeasible - and the market that is to be benefitted is very rightly suited for this stop. As of measurements during the 2006 Census, Fraser Heights had the highest proportion of teenager residents of any community in the entire Lower Mainland. Many of these teenagers are high school students that have already graduated or are in the process of it, and may now go to university. Adding this transit option will significantly benefit some of them in reducing travel time - especially to SFU on Burnaby Mountain, UBC, and Douglas College in New Westminster. It will also expand their employment options by introducing centres such as Lougheed Town Centre and Brentwood Town Centre within an affordable 30 minute commute by transit. I was hoping that this stop could be in place by March, when the toll rates on the Port Mann Bridge are raised to full price for all travellers. If the stop is not in place, Fraser Heights and Guildford residents will have no promised transit option across a new toll bridge at full toll price, and there will have been no additions made at all for local residents without regular access to a car or without the ability to afford one (until the stop is introduced). Its unannounced omission from the final project plan and the requirement of extra funding from TransLink/the City of Surrey are already somewhat fraudulent in nature. Having at least a stop completed by March also ensures that the Rapid Bus stop is in place well on time for the beginning of the Summer term for university studies which is starting in May. I have already finished an analysis that finds that there is potential to safely have this stop in place (see link: http://skytrainforsurrey.org/2012/11/25/press-release-solution-proposed-for-missing-surrey-rapid-bus-stop/).Flag
