The Ramsey Homes, located on the 600 block of North Patrick, is currently 15 units of non-market public housing. The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA) is proposing to redevelop Ramsey into two apartment buildings with 53 units of non-market housing. A total of 29 parking spaces will be located underground; any additional parking will be street parking. As residents of the City of Alexandria we submit the following:

1) Current master plans, which were developed by the City, community, and ARHA, limited Ramsey redevelopment to between 15 and 30 units. We ask the Planning Commission and City Council honor these plans and limit the number of units to this range.

2) Ramsey is currently zoned RB Residential and limits density to 22 units per acre. ARHA is proposing to rezone the property to CRMU-M commercial mixed-zone with a density of over 74 units per acres. We ask that the property be kept zoned residential with a corresponding density.

3) The surrounding neighborhood consists primarily of two-story townhomes. The proposed redevelopment is two three-story apartment buildings with interior corridors. We ask that redevelopment be kept in keeping with the scale and character of the neighborhood.
