Currently, clients in the Employment First program (which allows us to keep our food stamps) are given $10 a month for a gas voucher. Unfortunately, with the rise of gas prices, $10 won't help the clients get to their mandatory volunteer sponsors to keep us from getting sanctioned and kicked off food stamps. Local gas prices in Colorado Springs is reaching $4.00 a gallon and it is only looking to get worse as we get into summer and beyond. Not every client will be the same depending on where the sponsor is located in relation to our address and the vehicle that we have available to us. We, the undersigned, ask that the gas voucher is increased dependent on each clients need with a minimum of $25 a month and a maximum of $80 a month.
